The victim, identified as Willow Glen High School student Justin Estira, was struck by a vehicle in the Canoas Garden neighborhood on Rinconada Drive, the same residential street where the accident occurred. The San Jose Police Department has released more information on the fatal collision. a 2019 Subaru sedan driven by a juvenile female struck the juvenile male pedestrian. The vehicle was traveling northbound through an apartment complex parking lot entrance when it struck the pedestrian at low speeds. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. This is the 19th fatal collision and the 20th traffic death in the city in 2023. It is also the 12th pedestrian death in the city this year. The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office following confirmation of their identity and notification of next of kin.
