Tragedy Strikes Central Zambia: Chitambo District Commissioner Perishes in Road Mishap

Early morning hues were shattered by tragedy on the Great North Road near the Chilata area of Mkushi District, as an official vehicle carrying Chitambo District Commissioner, Evans Chola, met a harrowing fate. En route to a pivotal meeting in Kabwe, the vehicle overturned, casting a somber shadow over the day. The incident, occurring around 06 hours, claimed the life of Chola and left two others injured, marking a poignant moment of loss for Central Province and the nation at large.

The accident scene was one of chaos and dismay. Jones Malipilo, 31, the driver, and Peter Chilombo, 33, a respected head teacher at Chiotwe Primary School, were found injured and promptly rushed to Mkushi District Hospital. Their injuries, while significant, paled in comparison to the dire outcome for Chola, who was seated in the back and ejected through the window, suffering fatal head injuries. The community now watches with bated breath, hoping for the swift recovery of the injured, as they begin to mourn the loss of a revered leader.
