PartyNextDoor had aspirations of breaking into the music industry from a young age. He sang at his church and performed frequently as a teenager. He was the choir’s oldest member as well. He started utilizing Myspace in the hopes of attracting labels and producers, but he ultimately opted to start making his own beats.
He once performed in Mississauga under the name Jahron B as well. When a music management approached him via Myspace, his wish came true. At the age of 17, he then moved for Los Angeles. He debuted with the song “Make a Mil.” Boyz II Men, Jodeci, and Blackstreet are among the artists he looks up to for inspiration, and 90s hip-hop music in general has a big influence on his approach.
Within a year of arriving in Los Angeles, he obtained a contract with Warner/Chappell to work as a lyricist. Justin Bieber received his tracks and performed them uncut as a result. Soon after, he changed his identity to “PartyNextDoor” and composed the extraordinarily moving song “Daughter.” Following this, he stopped making songs for other people since he realized how deeply personal his music was. To network and market himself as a musician, he relocated to Miami. OVO exhibited interest in his music sometime in 2013, and the label’s co-founder Oliver El-Khatib was sufficiently taken by it to agree to a deal.
In 2013, he produced and released his debut album, “PARTYNEXTDOOR,” and this is when he rose to fame. On the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, the album debuted at number six. In the same year, he released ‘TWO’ as a follow-up.
This album managed to place 19th on the Billboard 200 list while dominating the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. Millions of people still click on his most well-known song, “Recognize,” every day. His subsequent EP, “PNDCOLOURS,” a four-track EP, was published in December 2014. The songs “Legend,” “Preach,” and “Wednesday Night Interlude” from Drake’s album “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” were also produced by him. He frequently appears with Drake, who is in charge of the OVO brand. He has been well-known throughout the years by performing in several locations, leading tours around the world, and attending illustrious events.
His third album, “PartyNextDoor 3,” which he released in August 2016, was well-received. Later, he appeared on ZAYN’s “Still Got Time,” for which he was given writing credit, and DJ Khaled’s “Shining.” He published the follow-up/extended album to “PNDCOLOURS” in 2017 under the name “COLOURS 2.”
