Learn new things by learning to search Tumblr.
Tumblr is a free blogging platform and social network website on the Internet. You can create your own customized Tumblr blog, create content for your blog, earn followers and interact with other people on the site.
Because Tumblr is a highly social website, to become successful, you must not only provide strong content for your blog, but also consistently interact with other Tumblr bloggers. The more that you comment, answer and reblog posts, the more noticed and successful your Tumblr blog will become.
Tumblr Setup and Content Creation
Select a specific topic for your Tumblr blog. Narrowing down your blog’s topic allows you to gain followers who are interested in specific content that you provide.
Choose a name for your blog that relates to your topic. It should also be easy to remember and spell.
Navigate to the Tumblr Theme Garden and choose a theme that fits the feel of your Tumblr topic. The theme should be attractive and easy to navigate. Also make sure there is a link to your “Ask Me Anything” option built into the theme.
Create content based on the topic you have chosen. Go to your dashboard and select “Text” to write an article, “Photo” to upload pictures, “Audio” to share music or “Video” to share movies. Create a foundation of good material before you attempt to attract followers.
Type keyword tags in the “Tags” text box of all content you create. This allows others to find your content on the Tumblr site based on tag words.
Attracting Tumblr Followers
Go to the Tumblr blogs of your friends or other people you know who are using Tumblr, and click the “+ Follow” button to follow their posts. Let your friends know that you are following them and they may become your first followers in return.
Click the “Explore Tumblr” button on your dashboard, then select a topic similar to your own. Visit other blogs from these topics and click the “+Follow” button if you like the content on the blog. The blogger will receive a message that you are following him, and may follow you back in return.
Return to your dashboard and interact with the blogs that you follow. You will see posts created by the bloggers on your dashboard with options such as “Like,” “Reblog” and “Note.” This allows you to show your approval for posts that other people make. Each time you interact with a post, your Tumblr name will display, allowing other people to find your blog and follow you.
Interact with your followers. Follow new people who follow you. Respond to comments and thank followers for reblogs. Also publicly answer any questions that people send to your “Ask Me Anything” box.
Continue to provide strong content and build a follower base. This takes time, patience and dedication to your blog and followers. Over time, good content and interaction will lead to a successful and respected Tumblr blog.
Change the available options that appear on your blog.
Tumblr is an online blogging community that allows you to publish content and interact with other Tumblr bloggers through features, such as the Follow option. When you choose to Follow someone on Tumblr, that writer’s blog posts will appear on your Tumblr dashboard each time you log in.
Some Tumblr themes place a “Follow on Tumblr” button on your blog’s sidebar, which allows other people to subscribe to your Tumblr posts. If you want to remove this button, you must edit your Tumblr theme’s HTML code.
Log in to your Tumblr account, and click the name of the blog you want to edit.
Click “Customize Appearance” from the right menu.
Click the “Edit HTML” button in the left menu. Tumblr will open a new frame that displays the HTML coding for your blog’s theme.
Locate the code for the follow button in your sidebar coding. This will be different depending on the theme. However, if you press the “Ctrl” and “F” key simultaneously to open your browser’s search feature and search for the word “Follow,” you will find a URL similar to “www.tumblr.com/follow.” This code creates a link using the Follow button.
Highlight the entire block of code, including the Follow URL and the button image URL; then press the “Del” key on your keyboard to delete the code and remove the button. This code begins with the “<a href” tag, followed by the URL address of the Tumblr Follow link that you located in the previous step and an image source code for the Follow button. The Follow button code will end with the “</a>” tag.
Click the “Update Preview” button to see the changes to your theme, and then click “Save” to publish the changes.
